Ethos: Toilet paper that’s safer for our bodies and Mother Earth.

Founded in response to an industry that required radical change, we remain committed to producing toilet paper that is not only better for the environment but one that is also better for our bodies.

In our context of living in the rise of consumerism, growing population and climate change, materials play a vital role in reducing emissions and environmental impacts. This is why our toilet paper is 100% FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) certified bamboo (FSC-C142978) ← That I.D. is our chain of custody certification. The cardboard boxes our toilet rolls are shipped in are also FSC® certified.

FSC® certifications are internationally recognised as the most rigorous environmental and social standard for responsible forest management, promoting environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.

We know that responsible sourcing contributes towards protecting biodiversity, wildlife, and the communities, all of which are part of our forests and this report published by the European Commission confirms that ‘biodiversity loss and climate change must be tackled together’. That means our sourcing decisions (and your purchases) contribute towards protecting ecosystems that can help us mitigate and adapt to climate change.

PFAS are in many of the everyday products we are exposed to, from non-stick pans and mascara to household dust and rain. Referred to as ‘forever chemicals’ (they persist in our environment and our bodies), studies have linked PFAS chemicals to cancer, reproductive issues, endocrine disruption, and various other health effects.

We regularly perform third-party lab tests to ensure compliance. As confirmed by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance SA, Switzerland),

EcoRoll was screened for total fluorine, including perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) content, and we can confirm that no PFAS were detected, which implies no intentional use in manufacturing.

Our toilet paper is also tested  in accordance with the Toxics in Packaging Clearinghouse (TPCH) Model. These tests include lead, cadmium, mercury, and chromium VI (the worst) because these heavy metals can be harmful to human and environmental health.

The most we can do is limit our exposure where we can. That is why we test.

We wanted to produce toilet paper that was not only better for our bodies but also better for the environment, which is why measuring our carbon footprint, decarbonising, contributing to climate projects and reporting on our progress remains a business priority.

EcoRoll is a brand that sits within Ecoware Packaging and as a company we have measured our emissions since 2014. And in May 2025, we acknowledged our tenth year of certification under Toitū Envirocare, renewing our commitment as a Climate Positive Organisation ← That is our certificate. In 2021, we were the first toilet paper company to get there. There are only a handful of businesses that hold this certification.

Being in business is not without impact. We measure emissions across categories like transportation, employee commuting, waste and electricity in our operations. And while our toilet paper is just two products of a much larger portfolio, we are happy to report that between 2020 and 2024, we reduced operational emissions intensity by 47.26%, from 2.79 tCO₂e per $1M revenue in 2020 to 1.47 tCO₂e in 2024. This reduction reflects our focus on decoupling emissions from business growth.

We’re aiming for a 73% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions by 2030* and a 42% intensity reduction in Scope 3 CO₂ emissions by 2030* and we’re confident we can reach these goals. We are currently in the process of evaluating finalising our audit with Toitū Envirocare and will publish our next impact report early 2026.

What does climate positive mean? And scopes explained

It is a rigorous process to obtain Climate Positive Organisation certification that involves carbon calculations across our value chain, comprehensive documentation and investing in emission avoidance projects. Climate Positive works by firstly, reducing our emissions, guided by science-based targets and then offsetting those emissions by 125%.

Given there is little oversight over greenwashing, aligning with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and third-party auditing ensure that what we're doing is not only done with good intentions but with actual impact. Our partnership with Toitū Envirocare ensures we do that.

Choose the toilet paper that aligns with your commitment to Mother Earth, which is also safer for your most private areas 🍑
